McDonald’s opens biggest global innovation centre in Hyderabad
McDonald’s has officially launched its largest overseas innovation hub in Hyderabad, marking a major leap in its global expansion strategy and underscoring the city’s growing reputation as a destination for technology-driven enterprise.
The new Global Capability Centre (GCC), located in HITEC City, Hyderabad, spans a massive 1.56 lakh square feet and aims to serve as a centre for innovation and enterprise operations outside the United States. The inauguration was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu, who described the development as a boost for Telangana’s thriving tech and business ecosystem.
The Hyderabad centre has been designated the Global Hub for Innovation and Enterprise Operations, with teams working across technology, data analytics, finance, human resources, sourcing, and other critical functions that support McDonald’s vast network of over 43,000 restaurants and 65 million daily customers worldwide.
The innovation hub is expected to create more than 1,200 direct jobs for highly skilled professionals, contributing significantly to the local economy and echoing Hyderabad’s rise as India’s capital for Global Capability Centres. The initiative is also anticipated to have positive effects on allied sectors such as commercial real estate, logistics, and services, strengthening the region’s economic growth.
Executives stressed that McDonald’s choice of Hyderabad reflects confidence in both the city’s talent pool and its investor-friendly business environment. The hub’s focus on digital, technology, and sustainable business practices aligns with the brand’s commitment to modernising operations on a global scale.
With the opening of the Hyderabad centre, McDonald’s joins a host of multinational companies—including Microsoft, Amazon and Google—in leveraging India’s expertise for cutting-edge innovation and global business support.
